Ten Miles to the West (2025)
C0-Director - Cinematographer - Editor
A music video for the song Ten Miles to the West by Azure Larkwood.
THe Challenge
Azure was coming out with a new album called “If Come the Flood”, and was looking for a music video as material to promote their new album. They needed a film that matched the sonic aesthetic of the album and told the album’s story.
The Process
Azure came to me with the idea of the film, and it was my job to interpret their ideas and bring it to the screen. This film is a journey advocating peace. We start with Azure at their home starting a journey through the woods of Missoula to make their way up a mountain and to their performance of their song.
We wanted to uncover and discover the film we were making as we were filming it. We shot this film in one day and as the film is a journey, the production of the film was journey as well.
The editing of the film was much the same way. Our understanding of the film was deepened upon discovering the film as we were editing and trying many different variations to tell the story.
The Result
By the end, Azure had a professional film that they could use to promote their new album. This film had much success with many people enjoying the film and creating a visual language alongside their sonic landscape.
