Spare a Life (2023)

A music video for the song Spare a Life by Arwen Baxter.
The Challenge
At the time Arwen had never worked on a music video and this was her first one. The challenge was creating a visual aesthetic that would exist alongside her music and help tell her story.
The Process
Arwen came to me with the full idea of the film, and was looking for me to translate those ideas. We had several locations and another actor to tell this story.
For this film we included a lot of nature and used the contrasting colors of red and green to play as contrasting elements of the story.
Furthermore, I made the choice to film all of this on one lens, the Mir 1-B 37mm f2.8 as it has this incredible swirl effect to really draw the eye of the viewer to the center of the image.
We spent a lot of time in the edit to make sure the sequencing of shots told her story.
The Result
Because of all this work, Arwen had a film she could be proud of and use to promote her music.
